Dias Sardenberg was born in Espirito Santo, Brazil, and emigrated to the USA in 1985, where she worked extensively in fashion. The colors, textures and designs of the vintage kimono silks she handled inspired her to begin painting and using textiles in her mix media artworks.

Sao Paulo Museum Director/Curator Emanoel Araujo, “The new figuration proposed in her work brings a lot of innovation; it’s a mixture of painting, tapestry, billboard, monumentally large graffiti.  And it’s replete with provocations that sometimes are stirred up by the metaphysics of surrealism. Sometimes acquires aspects of art brut, while approaching elements of Pop art, mixing in certain Matissean figuration effects; and then sometimes her work adopts an inflamed discourse as in a whirlwind of passion”.

Her artwork Hot Coffee was featured as the Cover of Flaunt Magazine in 2010. Flaunt, in the same issue created a removable poster highlighting some of her most prominent works, including the stunning Hot Coffee and other images of Mocambo Suite series.

In 2013, in addition to her painting, she moved into metal sculptures creating a fantastic universe of life-sized metal sculptures inhabited by beings set into action; shaping her stories, which are told as Contemporary Fables.
